Yesterday, 3rd August 2006, I caught the early train from Earlsfield to Boxhill and Westhumble £9.60) and arrived in 50 minutes in the heart of the surrey south downs. I turned left out of the station and walked to Polesden Lacey, and wondered around the National Trust property for a couple of hours. It was lovely, peaceful and quiet. Saw a few rabbits in the grounds, and then toured the house. On the walk to the place I found an old bottle in the hedge, about 70 years old. On the way back I found in the hedge, and ate, Kent cob nuts, blackberries and a Plum tree!! With little red ripe plums, they were delicious. The weather was a bit grey and cloudy, which was disappointing for an August day.
